Isle Eolie

Post by mystictyger18 »

I wasnt sure where to post this question...it could fit on more than one of these boards I guess but I figured this was the best place for it...I wanted to know if anyone had any information about the Eolie Islands...I know they were named after the Greek god of the wind, Aeolis...on Lipari there is a castle...is that from the period the greeks ruled the island? Is it possible to be a descendant of someone from a country other than Italy...such as greece, france, spain or even africa? the surnames in my family that I know off the top of my head are lo schiavo, raffaele, and cincotta (I know I have asked questions about these surnames before...)...I dont know how far back my family has lived on those islands...at least a few generations...but thats all I know...sorry if this question is kind of vague...Im not looking for anything specific though really...anything would be a help

Go to www.google and insert the Aeolian Island History and I am sure you wilkl get your answer. People here guide more than teach. research is your responsiblity and I know your seeking guidance and you will get your answer by seeking out such websites as the Catholic Encyclopedia, the Internet under the titles you ar e interested in pursuing etc. Peter
