Re: seeking info on albanian decendants into italy
I figured someone would have replied by now...I'm interested as well... (although I've got 3 or 4 centuries of Italian records to go through before I can find my family's link back to Albania!)
I recognize a few of the surnames in your list. Frate, in particular is a regular that shows up in a lot of the records I've reviewed for the Casalvecchio Di Puglia area....which is where all my Albanian/Italian family came from before settling in Milford, Mass.
What area of Italy did your Albanian ancestors settle in?

My past is all behind me now.
Looking for Andreola, Fino, Simone, Rossacci & Capece primarily from Casalvecchio di Puglia.

most of my surnames are all from ururi, campobasso molise , and i have gone back as far as 1830 into the village they are from. my grand father spoke albanian he also spoke 6 languages . so my guess is he was well educated in italy.

Hiii my grandma´s surname was russo but she always told us she was of greek ancestry...then I realized that a few words she knew were not greek but albanian so I guess she was descendant of albanian and not greek...someone know about the albanians in consenza?

If you mean "Cosenza", yes, there are several towns where a dialect of descendants of Albanian people is spoken.
They came to Italy in the XV-XVII century, and are called "arbereshe".
Here is some info, you can translate with Google, and, if there's something you can't understand, just ask.

Based on my personal research into my family from Foggia, in the 2nd link Pippo provided the information may be correct from a cultural basis but is not accurate genealogically. For instance it lists Casalnuovo Monterotaro as "Community extinct' and Casalvecchio di Puglia as "Maintains..." These two commues/communities are a stone's throw from each other and the inhabitants that are there today as well as the ones that emigrated to North & South America have intermarried as far back as I've been able to research. Marriages of people from the more distant (but not really that far away) communes of Chiueti and San Paolo di Civitate are also occasionally also seen in those records.
I'm hardly an expert on any of this, but based on my struggles
, if you can find a narrower location than the 'Province of Cosenza' and find a commune or at least a smaller geographic area to concentrate on, you'll have a better chance of success for genealogical digging.
