Re: italian web pages how to write town, province etc
There are no counties in Italy.
Italy is divided in Regioni, each region is divided in Provincie and each Provincia is divided in Comuni. Comune is the smallest territory from an administrative point of view, although one comune usually includes other smaller built-up areas called Frazioni.
Each Province takes the name from the most important Comune in the Province. The most important Comune in the region is called Capoluogo di Regione (regional capital).
Currently there are 20 regions, following is a list of them with the name of their capital
1 Abruzzo L'Aquila
2 Basilicata Potenza
3 Calabria Catanzaro
4 Campania Napoli
5 Emilia-Romagna Bologna
6 Friuli-Venezia Giulia Trieste
7 Lazio Roma
8 Liguria Genova
9 Lombardia Milano
10 Marche Ancona
11 Molise Campobasso
12 Piemonte Torino
13 Puglia Bari
14 Sardegna Cagliari
15 Sicilia Palermo
16 Toscana Firenze
17 Trentino-Alto Adige Trento
18 Umbria Perugia
19 Valle d'Aosta Aosta
20 Veneto Venezia
The most important town of the region is called "capologuo di Regione)
Salino and San Pietro Vara are 2 frazioni (hamlets, villages) of Varese Ligure, which is part of the La Spezia Province, in the Liguria region.
Borgo Val di Taro is a Comune, belonging to the province of PARMA, in the Emilia-Romagna region.

Re: italian web pages how to write town, province etc
thank you, I tried one of the italian websites to look for mu aunt Rosa but couldn't somehow get the names in order. Its so hard because most of the web is not in English, and you have to write in Italia to get anywhere. no luck. thanks again. i wonder if like varese liguri written differently in italian.

Oh adelfio, Thank you. I will try. Your letter will certainly come in handy for me when I write to them. The problem on the Italian sites is I don't know what to click on to get the information. One of the sites has both English and Italian.
I put like, Cembrano, comune Maissana, province La Spezia, Liguri region...somehow they don't understand. I will keep trying and thank you for all your help.

Is there a another spelling for Coffrini in Italia....Pink 67's note showed Caffrine for the 1910 Untied States Federal Census. My aunt's name is Dina, but I have no Idea of the spelling..I know she had twins and one of the twins might be Lena...again I have no way of knowing how to spell it. How would you spell it in Italia.
