Irish and American genealogy

Post by dnnisgomez »

This group has helped me find great amounts of history for my Italian family. I Thank you so much for this...
This of course has caused me to find new questions. My Italian Great Grandfather Charles Vitanza was married to Julia Vitanza (St John) born July 11 1889. I found out her father was Irish immigration date unknown, Richard St John. Mother, Harriet Williams, family from New York. My Grand mother Josephine Vitanza was born on July 5th 1914 in Brewster, New York Putnam County. My grandmother thought they were married there. I have tried to get more information but have come up with nothing. I really need the help of your great organization. Please help me find where in Ireland my Julia's father came from and what date. Also any other information on him or his family. For Harriet I would like to know anything about her birth, death, marriage, any family information. Julia's Birth certificate and marriage license would also be amazing.

Thank you,
Dennis

Dennis,

The 1901 and 1911 Ireland censuses are available online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ . A quick serch turns up seven "Richard St John" listings in 1911:

and just four in 1901:

Perhaps you can tie together with additional information to figure out which if any of these is of interest.

He was my great great grandfather. He would have possibility came to the US in mid to late 1800's. Although these cold be his relatives. My great grandmother Julia was born in 1880s. So maybe he came in that decade or the one before it?
Thank You So Much For Your help.
