Hi...great site! I am trying to retrace my husbands family name 'Emanuel'
His grandfather always said the family moved to Liverpool from Genoa Italy, but I have had trouble confirming this in the past with my research.
I have finally found a record of a vessel 'Attivita' on the 1891 uk census in Toxtheth dock, Liverpool listing an 'Auffos Emanuele' from 'Sampier Jarena, Flolia' So far I haven't been able to find any such place but I have found 'Sampeyere' in Piedmont. Many of the people listed on this census record state they are from Genoa so it seems to fit the stories passed down through my husbands family...where do I go from here?
Any help greatly appreciated! - Nadine Emanuel

San Pier D'arena is listed as having microfilm records in the Family History Library of the Mormon church nearest your home from 1866 to 1915. Since Emanuel (Emanuele) is your last name you should be able to trace the family there for starters. Peter
