Though some portions are crowded and faint I would be grateful if anyone can translate the various portions of this death certificate for Salvadore Pillitieri. The index has a death date of 5 July 1837 so my thought is that he died in ‘37 but was not registered till 1840? If so, how unusual is it for this to occur?
And I would appreciate opinions concerning the spelling of a given name. There are 2 couples in Sezione di Baida by the names of Salvadore Pillitieri and Ninfa Abbate, living in different towns. What appears to distinguish the two men is the spelling of their given names; Salvadore & Salvatore, the spellings are consistent in the records I have found. Should I give weight to the different spellings?
Thank you,
Tana

I try...
I only write down the parte that is different from the usual acts:
"poi si è divenuto alla presente tardiva dichiarazione in esecuzione di deliberazione emessa dal Tribunale Civile di Palermo prima Camera sotto li 21 dicembre 1840 comunicato come Ufficio dal xxxx xxxx di detto Tribunale li 30 dicembre 1840"
The lower part is the usual yearly closing of the register, made 3 years later, and so added in a little space.

Re: Help with translation and opinion, please
My guess is that Salvadore disappeared, his body was not found, and a few years later the Court of Palermo declared his supposed death at a certain date (July 1837).

Unfortunately none of the other records I have found which includes birth, death & a marriage of children provide parentage for Salvadore. Salvadore & Ninfa of Santo Isidoro seem to have had their children in the 1820s & the other Sal. & Ninfa of Boccdifalco had theirs in the 1830s. I am now wondering if there isn' t a third couple as there are 2 sons both Salvadores born less than 9 mos apart, unless both couples were residing in Boccadifalco. Wouldn't be too big of a stretch as my Grandfather Giovanni was born in a different town than his siblings. Caused quite a stir in the family when I found his birth cert. But I digress. I know from my 2nd gr grdfather's marriage record, 1856, that his father was deceased. It would probably be smart to order the next film of the death registry which runs through 1856 to see if I find another Salvadore.
I really appreciate your taking an interest in my conundrom.

Thank you! I am glad that I posted the request. The idea that this Salvadore disappeared brings to mind many questions that will never be answered.
By the time you read this it will be tomorrow for you, so have a good day!
