Hello,
I am researching on what info I have of my gggrandfather Joseph Zanelli....I have his naturalization papers that shows he signed his name as Joseph Zanelli, he was born Jan 1 1866.....I have been told he had brothers....Paulo, Rocco, Nicholo....Nic was last heard from in Ohio. Also from what I have been told was that he was from Campobasso.
Any help would be appreciated. There are a few variations on the last name here....his children used Zannella!
Thank you
Zanelli, Zanella, Zannella
Re: Zanelli, Zanella, Zannella
the right surname spelling is Zannella ( currently the surname is only in Macchiagodena town, Isernia province, before in Campobasso province)

Re: Zanelli, Zanella, Zannella
It could be....my only thought is Joseph died in 1901. Those dates are after that. I do have a picture of N. Zannella. He could have been writing my grandmother!
Re: Zanelli, Zanella, Zannella
HI,
I got some info this morning that shows his father was Antonio, this paper shows nativo di (native) and then handwritten MAESHIAGOTENA...then it shows province of Campabasso.
I did confirm that we have letters from brothers in Ohio and Indiana.....so it does look like maybe this person could be one of the brothers I am looking for!

Re: Zanelli, Zanella, Zannella
Hello,
Officer Zannella would be my great grand uncle (my great grand father's brother). My great grand father's name was Rocco Zannella. I've heard my dad tell the story of officer Zannella countless time, yet never truly believed it until I began to do research and found the information matched his story word for word. I have detailed information of Macchiagodena including pitures and have also visited the town countless times including the actual place of his birth. If you would like to know, you can reach me at italdaz@yahoo.com, I'm David by the way, and reside in Montreal Canada.
