Having problems with the Italian language? Do you need help to translate or understand an old family document? There is always someone who can help you!
Hello good people, I have recently received my grandfather's military records from Italy. Unfortunately, I do not speak Italian. I am hoping that someone with more experience than I could translate it for me. I have transcribed most of the text (what I could read anyhow) to assist with the translation, which I will place in italics below. There are some words missing though so please be patient. Here is a link to the document:
the foglio matricolare records a series of events (in this case mostly disciplinary) in your grandfather military life, but also records some other details that you already probably know.

Rigettato il ricorso con sentenza del tribunale supremo di Guerra e Marina in data del 27 Febbraio 1888 Appeal denied with sentence of the supreme court dated 27 February 1888
The rest is unclear, looks like he belonged to two corps the 3 compagnia (3rd brigade) and 2 Reggimento Fanteria (2nd Regiment Infantry) during 1888 probably serving his sentence.
The last entry is Trasferito classe 1868 per interruzione del servizio a mesi 7 e giorni 29 which translates in "transfered to the 1868 class for terminating the service after 7 months and 29 days"
Does not appear like he served in any war, he was late for his call (likely he was simply unaware) had some troubles for that and probably went back to his mountains. Italy was not in war during those years and the times the army was used before world war one it was not needed to call in reserve. He was too old to serve in WW1.
Ironically my grand grand father was born in 1867 as well, but born in Trentino he had to serve the Austrian army, he did fight at 48 but fortunately survived.
In few words he didn't show up when he was called to the Army. He was the put i jail for 1 year after which he had to attend to the Military Service for 18 months

Thank you ever so much! I've spent a few more hours poring over the document and have come up with a more updated transcription. If you could translate the personal information section for me as well I would be very grateful.
Also, I've figured out that the mysterious "V Regg" section says "Tale nel 2 Reggt. Sauleri lo 27 Agosto 1888". Perhaps someone might know what "Sauleri" means.
Once again THANK YOU for your time and for your help. It is most appreciated!

Also Luca sorry about missing your entry, I just noticed it today haha. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Thanks you guys for helping me out - Ryan
Forse c'è un equivoco. "Sabino" è il nome del soggetto cui si riferisce il documento postato.

Italians have a long and deep-rooted tradition of beliefs about luck and things that give either good or bad luck. In Italy there are colloquial names for bad luck. Think of:"sfiga" or "jella" (read it as "yella), but the most scary thing for millions of Italians is "Il Malocchio", which translate ...
