Ferrari Family from Palermo, Italy around 1911

Post by AFerrariintheUS »

My Family was from both Palermo and Carrara Italy. My Grandfather, Guissippe (Sp), was married to Emilia Califfe. He came to the US first, followed a few years later, about 1911,by my Grandmother (Emilia) and the children Emilio, Joseph and my father Andrea (Andrew). As a hobby I have been researching my family over years...now with the internet, more resources each year. Any information would be so very appreciated as I explore this new site. - Anita

Thanks again Marty. Those tidbits got me pretty far today. I've been having the hardest time going through data from Italy. I was hoping to find marriage licensees or birth records for my grandparent. I must have scrolled through thousands today...no luck  Very difficult. Hope others may see this as well. You must be the grand archivist in here! Thank you so very much for helping me - Anita

Anita,
I have been doing the same research regarding our family for the last few months! Emilio was my grandfather, making you and my dad cousins, Jim Ferrari! My dad is turning 60 next week and I have been putting together an album of our family history as a gift - I have uncovered lots and lots of things, and ordered the ship manifests from Ellis island for Emilia & kids arriving in the US, as well as, Giuseppe arriving. I would love to compare notes, and send you what I have! Andrew is the one person I have been struggling to find any information about and would love to learn about him, and see some photos!!
I'm Jenny Ferrari, I live in Maine. I would really love to connect with you!

I can't tell thank you all for this board as a resource. I wanted to share the most amazing thing as a result of this...
The day after I first posted here, so did the daughter of my cousin, adored by me as a child, and this was his daughter! We have talked on-line and even spoke on the phone. In comparing pictures, some furnishings were the same...and career choices.AMAZING!!! Life is such a series of events. This was priceless to me as I thought my small family was all left of out line...

On another note, I am at a stumbling block on this branch of my family. I have the ancestry.com upgrade to search international records, but still cannot find anything farther back for the parents of my grandfather, Giuseppe Ferrari born October 21, 1886. His Mother is most important, 9noted as) Madeline (but I'm thinking it's more as Madelina), last name Peri. My grandfathers Death certificate notes his Father as Anthony Ferrari. I have question to this as well. My grandfather was married to Emilia Califfe. I am struggling, but getting farther with her side.

I would so appreciate any further help. This is an incredible journey.
Thanks again ~ Anita
