I'm trying to find out the origin of surname STEARDO (this branch is from Mele in Ligury).

SDteardo is not listed as an Italian surname in the Italy surname dictionary and must be considered local in origin or perhaps orginally foregin and then italianized to Steardo. There are 8 towns in Italy, one in Campania, Piemonte, Trento Alto Adige regions of Italy and 4 town in the Liguria region so that apprears to be the focus of the origin of the surname in liguria. Hi, just an suggestion:
this surname is very rare, and are some possibility that was an version of Stuardo/StuardI, also very rare and present in same area (and Piedmont)...
