Hi,
I was wondering if there was any chance what so ever that I am eligible for dual citizenship?
My Italian grandparents both miagrated to Australia in the early 50's they got naturalised in 1959 and had my mum in 1960.
Are there any loop holes in the system? I really want to get my dual citizenship

I don't know if you are eligible but I do know that I have seen several birth records with a notation that the person lost Italian citizenship by taking Australian. I think the Australian Government must notify the Consulate who send the information back to Italy. I have not seen this as frequently for US citizenship.

Sorry, this seems like a pretty open-and-shut case of you not qualifying. If only your mom had been born prior to their naturalizing things would be different. Unless you have Italian heritage on your father's side, you don't really have a leg on which to stand. If you can find work in -- and a visa for -- Italy, you might be able to acquire citizenship by living in Italy for several years.
