Migliorini Family of Lucca

Post by kristine »

I'm looking for information about my great-great grandparents, Ernesto & Aurelia Migliorini of Lucca. Ernesto Migliorini arrived via Ellis Island (ellisisland.org) on Feb 6, 1904 at the age of 29. His wife Aurelia arrived later with five kids in tow. I can't find the record of Aurelia arriving. My grandmother (now deceased) told me that Aurelia and kids were sick when they arrived and were quarantined in Canada. Does anyone have any idea of where in Canada someone might be quarantined?

Secondly, how would I reach the Lucca Vital Records office to get a copy of Ernesto & Aurelia's birth certificates?

Any information would be appreciated!

Are you sure they are from the town of Lucca and not the province of Lucca. If they are from the town, you can order microfilm and go through the records yourself.

You do not mention in your post the maiden name of your female ancestor....as Italian women do not take the name of their husband it is neccesary to search for the manifest using the maiden name. Only the children would be listed under the fathers name.

Hi: Ernesto MIGLIORINI, already came in USA in 1901, joining with Daniele MAZZUCCHI cousin; this is ship's manifest

http://ellisisland.org/search/shipmanif ... 5247030150
well are wrote that came from Stazzema ( and no Gazzema mistaken on ellis island) common in Lucca province....; in fact on ship's manifest of 1904, Ernesto was in travel with 2 persons GUIDI surname, also joining with Daniele Mazzucchi cousin...
to this webpage is the Ufficio Anagrafe address http://www.comune.stazzema.lu.it/index. ... tura&id=51
