i've some questions about this record:
is this only a bann or is it also the inclusion of a marriage date?
is there an age given for Domenico? for Maria?
occupation for Domenico?
occupation for father, Domenico - is it mugnaio?
thanks so much,
donna

Re: marriage record help
Donna, you do so well to read these. They are so tricky.dmt1955 wrote:http://s30.postimg.org/rt4vhzhq9/1884_T ... intent.jpg
i've some questions about this record:
is this only a bann or is it also the inclusion of a marriage date? I don't see a marriage date.
is there an age given for Domenico? for Maria? Doesn't seem to be? Just to add: I now see that the bride was twenty.
occupation for Domenico? I read Cavamonte
occupation for father, Domenico - is it mugnaio? I read this too.
thanks so much,
donna
The occupation "cavamonte" is the only word here that I am absolutely certain about.
Just adding: It says that Domenico was the eldest son but you probably know this already. I've added that the bride was twenty - a work in progress here.

Re: marriage record help
I agree with cavamonte and mugnaio (miller).
I previously posted this info for someone else on the forum about cavamonte
cavamonte. This occupation involved digging up rocks which were used in the construction of houses.

Domenico's age-it says "di eta` maggiore"-of adult age
This is not an actual marriage record-just a record about the banns or publications

Re: marriage record help
Ah........."di eta"! I see this now. Your eyesight must be heaps better than mine Erudita, it is just a blurr to me. I saw the word maggiore and for some reason had in the back of my somewhat fuzzy mind at the moment that it meant "eldest". Sorry to put you wrong on that one Donnaerudita74 wrote: Domenico's age-it says "di eta` maggiore"-of adult age

So exactly what age was considered "adult age"?

Angela
During this period of time, the male would be 25 to be considered of adult age. For the female, it was 21.

Re: marriage record help
angela...you didn't 'put me wrong' as i'm familiar with 'maggiore' as adult child. so no worries....
erudita, thanks for that link to the photos and explanation.
final question .... i am assuming that b/c Maria was born in Prata, that is where the marriage took place. Would a notification have been sent to the town of Tufo when the marriage did occur? I ask b/c I cannot find any record of it in 1884, 85, or 86.
thanks again for your help and expertise.

I want to clarify the nature of the document you posted. The document is dated Nov 29, 1884 at 9 a.m. in the town hall of Tufo. The official there had received a request which was dated on Nov 27, 1884 from the official in the town of Prata asking that the publications be made in Tufo since the prospective groom was a resident there. In the margin, you have the publications which the official in Tufo made. The first was posted on Nov 30th, a Sunday. On Dec 7th, also a Sunday, it was replaced by the second publication. Normally that would only be posted continually for a three day period, but this notation says that the second publication ended today, Dec 15th, but it also states that it was continual for three days. So this is confusing to me. Anytime after this, the marriage could have taken place.
There should be an extracted copy of the actual marriage record among Part II of the records in Tufo. The marriage could have taken place in Dec of 1884 or Jan of 1885, but you said you searched the records for those years and couldn't find it. Possibly a copy was never sent to the town of Tufo, or a copy was inserted with that town's records years later, at the request of a family member who realized it was missing.

Re: marriage record help
indeed the town's records run the span from being very helpful with much information to missing or incorrect information. the microfilmed records go thru 1899 only. maybe after that the town received the marriage information. add it to the list of question marks....
thanks again for all your efforts.

no, i have not as yet. it wasn't until i was reviewing the Altavilla Irpina films that I discovered the migration from Tufo. and it is from these films that i have found some families from ceppaloni, chianche, and prata. i am just not quite sure how all the oldest males connect - as that would require church records....
thanks
