Would anyone know where I can find this type of information.?
I'm trying to see if my Great Grandfather and family went back to Italy around this time. I can only find the arrival records. I know they would have gone into the Port of Genoa because they were from Ponte Buggianese (Lucca, Tuscany).
Also, if they did go back, would Italy automatically recognize the US born children as Italians? So would there be some type of record where they lived?
Unfortunately, there are no records available for departures from USA that we know of.
As to the recognition of children born in US as Italian... many immigrant Italians sent a copy of a birth record back to their comune in Italy to have the births recorded there. These records often appear in Parte II of the civil registrations. You might look there.
