Missing 1869 records San Giuseppe?
Anyone know where I might find 1869 San Giuseppe Jato records They seem to be missing?
Re: Missing 1869 records San Giuseppe?
It is often the case that certain years are missing from the LDS microfilms and thus the records they have online (which are just images of the microfilms). OTOH, sometimes the records may just be out of order. It is not clear to me whether the records were missing from the collection that they filmed, or if they just overlooked them when they filmed them.
The records that are on microfilm often come from the copy that was retained at a district courthouse instead of the comune. Thus even if the records are not on microfilm, the comune may have copies of them anyway. Moreover, the copies that the comune retained tend to have more marginal notes. But of course you'd need to either request copies from the comune (for specific records) or find someone who will photograph the records for you.
