San Francisco consulate and the 1912 law - the DEFINITE ANSWER!

I emailed the San Francisco consulate regarding the 1912 law and whether or not they enforce it and if so, which date do they use, June 14 or July 1.

I received an email back from Signora Pagani answering my questions.

The San Francisco consulate does enforce the 1912 law and they use the June 14, 1912 date. She specifically mentioned that I qualify since my GGGF naturalized on June 15, 1912 and my GGF was born in 1908.

I wanted to post this here so that any other people within the SF consulate jurisdiction would have no doubt as to the 1912 law.

It's not a question of whether they are enforcing the "1912 law." The "1912 rule" is due to the law before 1912, i.e., the 1865 Civil Code. So they are enforcing the applicable law before 1912 (in situations before 1912). They are not retrojecting the law after 14 Jun 1912 back to the period before. They are, however, misunderstanding when the 1912 law went into effect (1 Jul 1912), which is very good for you.
