Occupation for women in Bronte 1906

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Occupation for women in Bronte 1906

Post by salveminif »

Hello,

My grandmother's marriage record listed that she was Giuseppa Mirenda, age 21, manufacturer [industriosa], born in Bronte.

Can anyone tell me what type of "industry" this would have been - year was 1906 at time of marriage.

My grandfather was listed as contradino - which I know was farmer and makes sense.

Thank you,
Frances
