Would someone please translate this Baptismal record. The handwriting is very hard to read. It is the second to last record on the left side of the page. It is for a Sparacio.
Thanks so much. Any info is appreciated.

Baptism of Antonia Gaetana* Sparacio, daughter of Vincenzo (Sparacio) and Anna Mondello. She had been born this morning. Godparents were: Nicolo Rigugliuso (currently this surname is spelled Rigolioso) and Nunzia Majuri (currently spelled Maiori). Nunzia was single (never before married).
*I'm not sure about Antonia's middle name. What is throwing me off is that it appears to end with the letter "u" in the record.

Re: Translation of a Baptismal Record, Sparacio
Thanks. The index has the name listed as Joanny. I was hoping it was my 4 times great grandfather, Giovanni. But it is his sister. I will keep looking. Thanks so much.
Re: Translation of a Baptismal Record, Sparacio
This is the index (folio 36) to which you are referring, in which you see the name Joannes, which would be Giovanni. This name is not the baptism record though. I'm surprised that the priest did not also list the record in the index under the name Antonia, as that's what I've seen with my own church records, when the infant had multiple names. As best I can determine, this is a record for a female (the word for daughter is in the record and not the word for son). I'm now positive that the middle name is Gaetana, but maybe someone else can take a look at the record and double check what I'm seeing. I believe the index is incorrect.

Thanks so much, Erudita. You are really a lot of help. I really appreciate all you do.
Re: Translation of a Baptismal Record, Sparacio
You're very welcome.
I was looking to see if I could find a death record or marriage record for the person in the baptism record to see if we could confirm the name and sex. I only checked one set of death record indices for the years immediately after the birth/baptism, and two sets of marriage indices (1764-1782; 1783-1797). I didn't see this person, but did find a marriage of a Francesca Sparacio, daughter of Vincenzo and Anna.

I don't know if you have a baptism record for this daughter or the following marriage record.
It is folio 306, record #1006-left side, second record dated June 1, 1794
Banns were on the 18th, 25th, and 29th of May and resulted in no impediments to the marriage.
The groom was Salvatore Trumbatore, son of dec Giuseppe (Trumbatore) and Teresa Mondello.
The bride was Francesca Sparacio, daughter of Vincenzo (Sparacio) and Anna Mondello.
Witnesses were Nicola Bentivenga and Gaspare Oddo.

Re: Translation of a Baptismal Record, Sparacio
No, Erudita. I didn't even have Francesca on my tree. Will be adding her. Thanks so much for the info and going out of your way to help. I'll say it again, you are awesome! Have a great week!
Re: Translation of a Baptismal Record, Sparacio
I'm glad you didn't know about Francesca. Right now, I'm kicking myself though. I misread the infant's name in the baptism record. It is a record for Giovanni Antonio and I believe his third name is Gaetano. So I believe this is the baptism record that goes with the marriage record of Giovanni Antonio Sparacio and Bernarda Lista. I shouldn't work with Latin records when I've had so little sleep. I apologize for my error. I certainly don't want you to add incorrect info to your family tree. His first name is certainly in the record on the left side of the third line.
