re:www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it
i do most of my genealogical research online and no longer use the lds films due to rising costs of the shipping and local library access.my research is primarily in the provinces of messina(my paternal grandmother)and avellino(my paternal grandfather). the website http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it is excellent for research in messina, but contains no records for the province of avellino. i've contacted the website but only recieve very vague responses regarding when/if avellino will be included in their resources. same thing with lds family search digitized collections. only one very small collection is available online for avellino, and hasn't been updated in over 2 years.since my research in avellino is primarily in the 1809-1865 time period, which would be covered in the www.antenati website(family search would cover later records starting in 1866),the addition of records for avellino at the www.antenati website would be most helpful. does anyone out there have any information regarding any news for the addition of avellino into the collections at the atenati website or the family search digitized collections? any insight would be most appreciated.

Even if LDS have done the work of microfilming the records it still costs money to upload and maintain this site. I still don't understand why the Benicultural don't charge for access to make this information available. Every other country I have researched charges for access to this kind of information. Sometimes a lot of money!
Paying the LDS to search the films gives them oney to continue their work, why would you complain about their minimal charges? Even for them, uploading to the internet and maintaining the site is expensive and they give that for free I believe if you go to their centers or you are a member of the church, which is really why they are doing this anyway.
Frosinone and Latina are not available on antenati yet and from what I can gather it will be a long time...

Re: re:www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it
thanks anne. i've been at this for 20 years and well aware of everything you say. just hoping that avellino is available soon at both www.antenati and lds. but understand this. 20 years ago i had lots of information to search,so a film for 3.50 yielded much information for the most part, and even the 20 mile ride to the nearest center was a minor inconvenience. now its hard to justify the 7.50 cost of a film considering that most likely i'll find nothing, never mind the travel to the nearest lds center. time and money have made online research of digitized records more relevant than the way i used to do it. everything has changed. just hoping the civil records for avellino appear soon.
