Change of name!!!!

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Change of name!!!!

Post by Petrarca »

My grandmother changed her name from Concetta to Etta. I have obtained an official change of name document from the court, but the state doesn't provide apostilles for such documents!!!!
Has anyone else had this problem? Did the consulate make an issue of it?

(Please, no "get a lawyer" responses....)

Name changes done by "deed poll" are not recognised by the Italian government. Therefore you need a document to prove that Etta and Concetta are the same person. Check with the Consulate for the appropriate directions.
