Is this an abbreviation for the word "quondam" between "Francisco Patrinostro" and "Balthassaris"? Does this mean that Baldassare was Francesco's father?
Also, who is Maria Rampello, a midwife?
Thanks,
John
Quondam?
Re: Quondam?
It means "formerly" or at one time. In other words, the father Baldassare was deceased. As to Domenica Maria Rampello, she was the midwife approved to baptize the infant in danger of dying.
Re: Quondam?
Thanks! The way it is worded it sounds like Francesco used to be Baldassare when he was alive.
So the infant is Baldassare, his father is Francesco, and Francesco's father is Baldassare.
So the infant is Baldassare, his father is Francesco, and Francesco's father is Baldassare.
Re: Quondam?
Yes, the infant was named for his deceased paternal grandfather
