Translation Help - Birth Record & Marginal Notes - Filomeno Lavorgna

Post by OrangeBlossom44 »

I would appreciate translation help with birth record #33 and marginal notes for one of my paternal great uncles, Filomeno Lavorgna. I believe he was born on 9 April 1881 in Faicchio, Benevento, Italy to father Antonio Lavorgna, 35, and mother Carmina Sangiovanni, both of Faicchio.

I can't make out the line that follows the name of the mother, nor am I able to understand the marginal notes. Thank you in advance for your help. Claire

You are correct with your translation :-)

The first marginal note corrects the mother's given name from Carmina to Carmosina.
The second is a notation of marriage to Maria Giuseppa Porto on 4 August 1913.

Thank you, Tessa!

Are you able to read the line after the mother's name? Does it give her age or occupation? Also, do you see the father's occupation?

Do the marginal notes say where the couple were married?

I am happy to see that the given name of Filomeno's mother is Carmosina. One of Filomeno's sisters is my father's mother Maria. Maria's second oldest daughter (in keeping with Italian tradition) was named after Carmosina. Maria's oldest daughter was named after her husband Giuseppe's mother Maria[antonia] Giannetta Biondi.

Your help is very much appreciated!
