Giuseppe Viotto

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Giuseppe Viotto

Post by trevisan2 »

I have been in contact with a young man named Jonas Cruz from Brazil that cannot find where in Italy his Great Grandfather came from.

Joans tells me that.

"Branch Viotto I am researching their origin in Italy, but I know they arrived in Brazil aboard the ship AQUITAINE in September 11th 1891".

I want to find:

Giuseppe Viotto
Born abt 1882
died 22 setembro 1954
Mococa, São Paulo, Brasil

Son of
Antonio Viotto
and
Maria Sorianna

Giuseppe Married in Brazil
Serafina Alberghini
born abt 1886
Emilia-Romagna, Itália

Thank you in advance for Joans Criz

Hi
There are two main groups of Viotto/Viotti, families, one in Veneto, one in Piemonte. I am related to the Piedmontese Viottos, many of whom went to Argentina and Brazil. But Sorianna is a surname that doesn't exist today in Italy and sounds vaguely Southern. More info?

Hi, Paola!
I am the one trevisan2 told!
First of all, thank you for your help!

The branch of my Viottos lived in Eraclea, Veneto.
My Greatgrandfather was born in november 21th 1882.
Therefore, it's compartible with your information!
I would like to proceed this research, finding more info about him and his relatives!
Do you have some, or know where can I find it?

In time, I'm researching also about another branch called "Geribolla".
Should you have any information about them?

Thank you so much,

Perhaps Giuseppe Viotto's mother's surname was SORIANI - found in Veneto :-)

That is an amazing find!
I think that could be it. I in Veneto, the priests often write "dialect" versions of a surname or the "detto" name.
This is a good starting point to find Giuseppe Viotto.

Thanks,

I saw there were 2200 files in that San Dona' Civil birth records with indexes. I started to look through them page by page and did find other Viotto's in it. Also some Vendrame's that I connect with in that area.
So its been a great find for you.
thanks
