approx. wait times for NYC consulate response

Hello everyone!
After many attempts at Italian citizenship (tried to apply twice on my mother's side, last attempt is hopefully a success on my father's side of the family), I have been waiting for a response from the NYC consulate for a little under one year.
For those who have applied there, what was the wait time like? Is there still a possibility that they will not give me citizenship?

I applied about ten years ago so my experience isn't relevant. But a year's wait time does not seem too unusual. Whether or not they recognize your citizenship is impossible to say. Good luck.
