1912...again

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

1912...again

Post by bnqcsac »

I'd written off my case several years ago, but recently came across contradicting info re: the 1912 rule.

To be clear, an ancestor that naturalizes BEFORE 1912, kills citizenship for any and all children?

My case:

Great grandfather, immigrats to USA in 1886. Naturalizes in 1897.
Grandfather born in USA 1893

Thanks in advance for confirming the final nail in this case.

Sorry, but you are correct.

However, what was the status of your great-grandmother? She would have automatically naturalized with her husband, but it may be worth checking if this is a possible 1948 case.
