Marriage of Rocco Vultaggio & Bartolomea Tristaino 26 Apr 1682

Post by sacesta »

Please help me decipher this record of my ancestors Rocco Vultaggio & his bride Bartolomia Tristaino, dated 26 Apr 1682.

I can't quite make out the dates of the banns. It looks like the 12th, 19th, and 25th, but I'm unsure of the month (April? Same month?)

Rocco's mother's name appears to be Catarina Viventis, but I cannot decipher his father's name. Parents were once joined at this parish (does that mean that they are both deceased?)

Bartolomea's father's name appears to be Giovanni and her mother, Catarina Suig?? Her parents are of this town and parish.

Witness info is vague. Xi someone of Joseph and Vincenza? Viventis of this town and parish and Mario Adragna? son of Pietro? and (dec) Antonina Oliva? of this town and parish.

It looks like there is another bann at the bottom of the record same dates as above. Names are mentioned. I don't know who or why. And I see some form of the word "denuncia" mentioned several times although it appears there were no legitimate impediments detected.

Thanks,

Steve

Banns were on the 12th, 19th, and 25th of April. Look at the second line-you have an abbreviation for the words "presentis mensis"-present month.

Rocco's father was deceased. It looks like a form of the name Cosmo. The mother Caterina was living (that is what the word viventis means-viventis is not her surname).

Bartolomea was the daughter of Giovanni and Caterina. Again there is no surname given for the mother. After Caterina's first name is the abbreviation for the Latin word for "spouses-Jug

Witnesses: The first one was Rev. Don (title) Vito, surname starts with Nico, but I'm not sure about the rest of it. He was of deceased Giuseppe and living Vincenza

The other witness was Marco Adragna, son of Pietro and dec Antonina (after her name are the words "olim jug."-spouses when she was alive

Ok. Thanks again Erudita. I had a few things screwed up there. It seems like records from this era do not include the maiden names of the mother's of the wedded couple. I was looking too intently for that. But I have enough information to look for the next generation of marriage records. I'll find their maiden names there. Still learning...
