Marriage of Lorenzo Balduccio & Elisabetta ?? 1637

Post by sacesta »

This one is a difficult read.

I know from the marriage record of Vito de Aguando and Marta Balduccio dated 26 Apr 1677 that Marta's parents are Lorenzo Balduccio and Elisabetta.

In the index of marriages Vol 37 at San Silvestro Papa I found this listing for Lorenzo Balduccio and Elisabetta d'Anna, referencing page 113.

That led me to this record (on left side) which I am having a difficult time deciphering. The date of the marriage is 17 Aug 1637. I see Lorenzo's given name. I see a Catarina Balducci (his mother?). And I see Elisabetta's given name. There appears to be a third spouse and parents. (Previous marriage?) I cannot read many of the names and cannot make sense of it.

It appears that there were no impediments to this marriage, but the dates of the banns are unclear (10th and 15th of August 1637?)

Whatever help you can give me is always greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the date of the first bann, but the second and third are on the 10th and 15th of Aug. The first one may have been the 6th.

Lorenzo was the son of Antonino and Caterina Balduccio, he was the widower of deceased Agata, daughter of dec Giuseppe and dec Caterina (I can't decipher Agata's surname).

Elisabetta was the daughter of dec Biaggio and Giovanna (I'm stuck on Elisabetta's surname too).

Witnesses: the first one has the title Magistro (maestro in Italian)-can't decipher his first name; surname is de Amico; the other witness was Antonino Mistretta

Thanks Erudita.

I think I have it. Lorenzo and his parents are listed as Lorenzo, son of Antonio and Caterina Balduccio.

In the index Elisabetta is shown as Elisabetta d'Anna. And I can see that here now. Elisabetta, daughter of Biaggio and Giovanna d'Anna.

I suppose the date of the first bann could be the 6th. I'm curious. What is the genealogical value of the dates of the banns?
