Looking for my great uncle Conti

Post by tapeduzzi »

I am looking for a great Uncle. His name is Fortunato Conti. He was born in Italy 15 Aug 1872 but I only know it was in northern Italy in the Province of Emilia-Romagna. He came to the USA on June 21, 1904 accompanied by his wife Pia Ferrari, who was born in Branzone, Valmozzola, Italy. His fathers name was Luis (from Fortunato's death certificate). Because I do not know exactly where he was from, I have not been able to find information on him. He died on 28 April 1920 and is buried in St Mary's cemetery in Freeport PA. Any thoughts? Teresa

According to his Declaration of Intention (to naturalize), he was born in "Valmossola, Italy"
This would probably be Valmozzola, Province of Parma :-) Emilia-Romagna Region.

If Pia Ferrari was born in Branzone (a village of Valmozzola), they were probably married there.
You could write directly to the Comune of Valmozzola to request the marriage act. It would indentify the place of birth for Fortunato Conti.

That you for your reply. I have a film from Branzone. Will look at the date and go from there. Teresa
