Marriage of Giacomo Marabella & Catarina Palma Pumo 1727

Post by sacesta »

I'm looking for a read on the bride's mother's full name and whether she is from this town and parish or from somewhere else.

Grazie per l'aiuto!

The bride does not have the middle name Palma in this record. Her mother was of this town and parish. Again, we are seeing that abbreviation for the mother's first name that Livio and I previously had an issue deciphering. The abbreviation is Phe or The. Not really sure. If Phe, it might stand for a name like Euphemia. Last night I tried to find a list of abbreviations for Latin first names, but I couldn't find any listed which would match what we see in this record. The mother's surname is not given in this record.

Livio

That was actually my suggestion in another of Steve's posts. I just can't find anything on the internet to support this.

Yes. Grazie. It is Philippa (Philippae, abbreviated Phe). This is confirmed on Catarina's record of baptism.
