Caterina Panaro birth record translation

Post by ddumont »

Hello, I would appreciate help translating my great-grandmother Caterina's birth record, with particular regard to her parents information:

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0

Does the record show the ages of Caterina's parents: Pasquale Panaro and Irene Pignatelli? My objective is to find the next generation back by learning their births and parents names. Many thanks! Denise

Birth No 879: Caterina Panaro
Altamura: 20 November 1888, 11.15 am
Pasquale Panaro, 45 yo, contadino (peasant farmer), son of deceased Mariano, reported that at 8 pm on 18 November 1888, in the house in via La Maggiore, No 37, from Irene Pignatelli, his wife, a contadina, living with him, was born a baby girl who he presented to the official and named Caterina.

Side Note: on 26 October 1908 in Altamura, No 142, she marries Rocco Lozito.

If you are wanting to go back further, your next step would be to look for Pasquale and Irene's marriage record. That will have the names of their respective parents. :)

Hi Angela,

MANY THANKS for the records and for the research advice! I can see the pattern.

These are the first records in Italian I've researched online myself, and although my Italian language skills are poor, I think I'm slowly beginning to come up the curve now.

Onward :D

Best regards,
Denise

thanks Angela for your help on this! This post was from Denise, the distant cousin that I matched with on the Ancestry DNA where I'm trying to figure out where our trees might overlap. I imagine Denise will become as hooked on this as I am!

Always happy to help Jen. :D It will be interesting to see how you are both related and how accurate your DNA results are.
