Are you to able give us a link to the actual record (the url), or if not, are you able to post the complete record. It's not such a clear image so it is hard to decipher all the words, but what I'm understanding is that

"the declarant gave the newborn the name Eustachio Santa Maria and recognized (acknowledged) (him) as (his) natural son"

which, I would suggest, basically means that the parents weren not married, at this stage.

Great analysis. Also, could it be possible that the son was not a legit one? Perhaps she “adopted” him to not being a bastard (by the time words).

Thank you :) Certainly, from the few words that we are able to read, they do suggest that the parents of the child were not married. (We often see similar wording in these birth records.) It would have been really helpful if we could have seen the full record. There's possibly more information there about the situation. Often when, for whatever reason, the parents are not married at the time of the birth, they do later marry and then "legitamise" the birth.

Hope this helps.

(Re the word b.....d - it is totally not in my vacabulary. It's not really used these days, thankfully, but to me it seems incredibly insulting and abusive to have ever labeled a child this way.)
