In Italy, as you know you must have a full name and approximate year of birth and place of birth in order to obtain document such as a birth record but judging from your text you are not even sure where he was born. The only certain thing that I can divine is that he may have served in the Italian army as a young man and his records are made public after 75 years in the provincial archives of Palermo. Peter

Send a request for his conscription records (registro di Leva) or his Discharge records (foglio di congedo illimitato) in Italian, if possible and include a self addressed envelope. Address your letter to the Director Mr. Claudio Torrisi. If you cannot send the letter in italian then write in VERY VERY simple english.. My name is.
