Nunzio Calia marriage

Post by Jen5525 »

Hi all,

I need help reading Nunzio's mother's name. Also Angela's parents' names :)

Any pertinent translation of the marriage record would also be greatly appreciated!

I'm reading Domenica Moramarco. It's clearer in the index. :)

Here is Vitomichele's death in 1811:

would love a translation of as much of this as possible! It looks to me that Vitomichele's mother (Rosa ??) was not born in Altamura, but I can't make out the town? Also, is it listing all of Vitomichele's children? It looks like Nunzio age 4, Giuseppe age 2 and Giovanni age 2 months?

Brother Giovanni's info in 1811 (remember he was 2 months at his father's death as noted above).

Seems to me that his mother's last name isn't Chiara Centonze on the birth record. It looks like Cutecchia (?). On the marriage index and page 1 of the marriage record, it looks like Centonze; on page 3 of the marriage record their is a name that looks like Chiara Cutechhia. I'm confused.

Also wondering if it gives any more information on his father or mother that wasn't included in his brother Nunzio's marriage record. THANKS!

birth (note it was recorded on 1 July, but appears that it lists the birth as 30 July (I think this is just an error):

I've just had a "quick" look, and yes, you are correct Jen, the birth record does record the mother's name as Chiara Cutechhia - great spotting :) , but I am understanding from the marriage record that this is an error. From the marriage record, and not verbatim, I am reading that the groom and his mother, by oath, declared the birth record was incorrect and that it should have read Centonze not Cutecchia.

Hope this helps. If I'm wrong someone else will help.

(Strange they didn't correct the date of birth as well :? I would say they intended to write born 30 June.)

thanks Angela so much! I'm always glad to have your help. And nice to know I'm getting better at spotting some of the most relevant details...but wish all the time that I was able to read more of it!!!

Nice to know they corrected the name on the marriage record. Very interesting! :D

And from this I know that the mother, Chiara, is still living :)
