My Citizenship Application

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

My Citizenship Application

Post by Angel25 »

When applying through the embassy can other people in your family members join an application or would that be a bad idea?

I have some people in my family that are also interested in applying for Italian Citizenship. Should I tell them to apply on their own and give them a little guide to follow?

I originally thought it was going to be a court case but it isn't going to be a court case. I don't think I should over-complicate my application by letting anyone else join.

Yes, other family members can apply with you if you share a direct line (father/child, mother/child, siblings). I would suggest separate appointments for cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. to avoid confusion. Also, the consulate may not permit you to schedule too many people at the same time.

Thank you for the information. It is a direct line relationship.

I am applying. I know my mother can join because she is right above me in the direct line. All my siblings are over age 18 they would need to apply with me. But I am a little concerned if I had siblings join it might make it more difficult for me.

One of the birth records in the line from 1898 has a name issue (wrong first name and misspelled maiden name of the mother) so I'm a little worried that if more people join then they might reject it.

In essence, your mother is applying with her children so it is a vertical line. That would work.

I applied with my son without a problem, and it's actually easier to handle parent-child applicants at the same time. In that way, the consulate really has to review the pertinent documents only once and then simply add the children's birth certificates.

The only issue I see is that the consulate may want to limit the number of people at the meeting, so you need to check with them. I would also suggest separate appointments if you and your siblings are adding your own children to your applications. If multiple appointments are required, subsequent applicants can ask that their mother's file be referenced.

If a discrepancy is an issue, it is an issue no matter how many people apply.
