Assistance translating Birth Record (Teora) from Italian to English

Post by tvr4 »

I have, what I believe, is the birth record of my great-great grandmother and I was wondering if someone could help translate it into English. Can anyone translate the record with witness info and official notes?

My g-g-grandmother was Filomena Valvano, Born 22 Feb 1881 in Teora, Avellino, Campania, Italy

Attached is the birth record I found during my research. It is record number 22

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Anthony

In the year 1881,Feb 22 at 10:30 AM at the Town Hall. In my presence Gaetano De Rogatis the civil records official of Teora, province Avellino appeared Giuseppe Valvano age 51 farmer (son of deceased Gaetano) domicile in Teora, that he declare to me, that at 11:45 PM on Feb 20th in the same year as above in the house on via Plebiserto #10 that from Maria Giuseppa Caruso wife with the inhabitant, it is born a baby of the female sex that is presented to us and that is declared of to give to this baby the name of Filomena .
The presentation and the declaration of the above mentioned is made in the presence of Gaetano Caprio age 37(son of Michele) land owner and Michele Caprio age 44 farmer (son of Raffele) tailor both residents of the same town . They were read the present act and declared information was correct. They all signed the birth act the civil official, and the two witnesses the father couldn't write so he didn't sign the birth act

Can't find the street on Google maps of Teora. Is it possible that the street name has changed or that it no longer exists?

Click on the name of the street and you should see its location on the map. It exists today.

Fantastic. I have been looking for a map just like this.

Do you know if Via Lorgo Orientale still exists?

I believe the correct street name in that record you posted in another thread was Via Corso Orientale (not Lorgo). I can't find it on a current map, so it probably has changed name.

You may be right. I would love to find the actual address on a map to show to my father. Nicola would be his grandfather.

You might try emailing the town and asking what the current name of the street is. Hopefully one of the following email addresses is correct-

comuneteora@tiscali.it

protocollo@comune.teora.av.it

I don't have pec in my email. But why would that be a problem?
