Mastrofino-Where in Italy Did they Come from?

Post by ItalianbellaSA »

Hi Everyone:

I am researching my aunt's roots. Her name is Julia Mastrofino Visaggio. I found a little about her and her family. Her father, Francesco Mastrofino arrived in New York on November 18, 1902 and was detained because of his mother, Anna. They were going to 127 Mulberry St., NY. He was 23 years old and single. His mother was Angela De Fino. Then I found that he arrived again in New York on July 5, 1911 at the age of 31. This time he was married to Antonia Belluno, also going to 127 Mulberry Street. I also noted that it said he came from San Angelo, Italy. Does anyone know where this San Angelo is in Italy? I would like to see if I can find his birth record of July 23, 1880.

Thank you all for any assistance.

On this immigration record of his wife and children, the name of the town might be San Arcangelo.

Hello Sue,

I just posted the birth acts of the children above.
Town appears to be Sant'arcangelo in Potenza Province :-D

It appears Francesco Mastrofino and Apollonia Belluno were married in 1906.
Here is a link to the index listing for the Publication of Banns(#21)
Unfortunately, the record is missing, AND so is the entire book of 1906 marriages. Only the cover appears to have survived...

Wow! Thank you so very much! So her name was Appollonia! I have seen her name differently in my research but never Appollonia.

Thanks again!
