translation of father's occupation 1899 birth record from Lusciano , Caserta

Please help me by translating the occupation of the father, Francesco Madonna, my great-grandfather, from the 1909 death record of his son, Gennaro.Via Ancestry, Lusciano e Duecenta, Caserta 1909 #11. Sorry, my previous post used the incorrect (birth) record.
