I'm applying for recognition of my citizenship jure sanguinis in San Francisco; my mother in Detroit.
In June I requested a hard copy of my GGF's citizenship certificate from the USCIS. I sent my request via snail mail and a couple weeks later my mother sent in an identical request for the same document.
A few weeks later, my mother received her hard copy in the mail. There was much rejoicing and amazement at how fast it had arrived. And I waited.
This morning, I checked my USPS Informed Delivery Daily Digest this morning and I see that I'm getting an envelope from the USCIS. However, it appears as though they sent me a disc. My mom got a hard copy. Now, what in the world am I supposed to do with this disc?
I am aware that Consolati Generale d'Italia accept the mailing envelope as proof of a U.S. citizenship document's authenticity. But are they really going to trust that the print-out I make from the CD is legit, just by showing them this envelope and CD?
I look forward to reading your thoughts and advice. Thanks!
