Rossi in Monte San Biagio

Post by dmchugh »

Seeking information on Domenico and Vincent Rossi - possibly from Monte San Biagio.

Domenico Rossi married Catherine DeVeto in Italy, date unknown. His son Vincent Rossi (born in Italy c 1833) married Catherine McKnight in 1863, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

We are hoping to confirm the location for this family prior to a visit to Italy next year.

You should probably be looking at San Biagio Saracinisco.
There are tips on finding the town of origin on my website.

Monte San Biagio (in Province of Latina) - was known as Monticelli until 1862.

Records available through Family Search but only online when accessed through one of their centers, or an affiliated library...

Tessa,

Very good point.
Here is a link to an explanation of the name change.

Careful with film 1173753. It has some Monticelli di Esperia on it even though it is listed as Monticello, Latina referring to Monticelli (Monte San Biagio)

Came across this site:
http://www.comunedimontesanbiagio.it/c0 ... idtesto/59

but in Italian, so unable to understand - wondering if it will be of any help in my research. Hoping an Italian speaker can take a look and let me know if the site contains links to family records.?

Grateful for any help with this.
