Re: D'Avino, Sigismondo DEATH
Death No 51:
Frigento: 1 September 1837, 4 pm
(Mayor: Marciano Capobianco)
Appearing were Don Giovanni Flammia, 80 yo, possidente, living Frigento, Strada San Pietro, and Nicola Fedele Nicoletta, possidente, living Frigento, Strada Limiti, who reported that on 31 August 1837, 10 pm, at his home, died Segismondo/Sigismondo d'Avino, widower of Anna Flammia.
He was 66 yo, born in Frigento, a contadino, living Frigento, Contrada Fontana Levara, son of deceased Emanuele (d'Avino) and Cecilia Peluso, also deceased.
(Looks like Sigismondo is spelt with an "e" in this record?)

Re: D'Avino, Sigismondo DEATH
Thank you, Angela. Are the differences in spelling, possibly errors, or because of the earlier dates of the records?

Re: D'Avino, Sigismondo DEATH
Pass - not sure, Dolores. The most common spelling in your records seems to be Sigismondo. In the few earlier records that you have had translated (1830s) the spelling seems to be Segismondo. I guess it depends on what the clerk heard when he wrote the name down etc.
BTW: Re Genua/Genna: Going through the earlier birth and marriage records at the library, so far, I have seen no evidence of "Genna" in those records - the spelling each time has been clearly Genua - early days yet though.
(I need to send you an email - later today.)
