Reading a Riveli

Post by brogie62 »

I have recently begun examining Riveli. Here is an example from the 1747 Riveli of Trecastagni for Cirino Fichera.

In the upper right corner you see:

"Rivelo che fa Cirino Fichera figlio di
Filadelfo ..."

Clearly showing the family head and his father.

This second Rivelo is from 1747 in Palazzolo Acreide. The ink is blotched and the handwriting difficult to read.
I can make out that this is the Rivelo for Paolo Bologna with his family listed on the left as per usual.
However, in the upper right, I assume it gives his father's name in the second line but I can't quite make it out.

Can anyone else figure it out?

Also, Although this is the 1747 Riveli, there are 2 dates on it.

15 Nov 1755 in the upper left and 1754 on the right. Does anyone know the significance of these dates relative to the the entires?

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm not so sure that that's his father's name on the right. Just before the date it says "in Palermo." The line above it says something about the Kingdom (of Sicily).

Carubia,

I am thinking that it would be in the second line. Just below Rivelo it *might* say ‘figlio’, maybe, and his father’s name would be just after that.

I see what you're saying. The first line definitely starts off like the other rivelo, with Paolo Bologna in the upper right, so it would make sense that his father's name was on the next line.

Do you know anything about the dates?

I would like to estimate birth years based upon ages but which date do I use?

The one in the upper left of 1755?
The one on the right of 1754?
The ostensible date of the Riveli of 1747?

The record is from Sep 9, 1755. It looks like Paolo Bologna is either 35 or 55 years of age and has a wife named Arcangela. Children are Catarina, age 2, and Bernarda.

Doing my own family research has led to 100s of hours of reading the Riveli.
