Question--in your experience, the spelling. I have all the names and they all match but sometimes, the name ciampa is spelled with an o, sometimes with an a. Is it a different family? Or just a mistake in some of the records.

If the names match, and you can verify the relationships, you most likely have the right family.
The surname probably changed over time...
Today you will not find the surname spelled with an "o" within the town of Rapone; but you will find it spelled that way throughout Potenza...

The surname spelled with an "a" is found in the town today. :-)
