Greetings I would like to get a narrative translation of this death record for Paolo Chiappini from Fossombrone, dated 1887. I am a newbie and a detailed translation of the entire document would be very helpful to me. For example, does it give his age at death? And what about his parents names? A translation of the pre-printed information on the form is helpful too because it may help me to translate other records myself (quite a wish I might say).

Registered at Fossombrone on 3 October 1887, 9 am, in the town hall.

Before the official appeared Aldebrando Casoli, 67 yo, barbiere (barber), living in Fossombrone, and Luigi Romite, 63 yo, calzolaio (taylor), living in Fossombrone, who reported that at 7 am (ieri) yesterday (2 October 1887), in the house in S. Martino del Piano, No 203A, died Paolo Chiappini, , 86 yo, colono (farmer), residing Fossombrone, born in Fossombrone, son of the deceased Cristoforo (Chiappini), who lived in life in Fossombrone, and the deceased Maria Mencarelli, who also lived in Fossombrone, when living. He was the husband of Maria Dell'Onte.

Witnesses:

THANK YOU ANGELA (and mmogno!!!) for the exceptionally detailed and personalized translation, it really means a lot to me. As I stated somewhere else, I am not looking to just create a sparse family tree with just names on it. I want to know as much information about these people as I can gather (which I realize is minimal because they all were so very poor).

Before I started this paternal genealogy project, I just had the name and birthplace of my great grandfather Pasquale Chiappini (b. 1869 Italy d. 1967 Connecticut, USA). But now after finding just two Italian vital records, I have the names of my 4th great grandparents. And, it appears I also know where they were all born, lived, and died. Very happy to help, Eric. I'm very much a detail person too, and thrive on it. It's amazing how much extra detail you can glean from Italian civil records, and how quickly you can go back several generations – keep a look out for marriage attachments (allegati/processetti). They can be a goldmine for the family historian.

Whoops! I notice that mmogno has picked up three errors. I can't believe I translated calzolaio to taylor???? – not sure where that came from. Thank you mmogno for the backup – always appreciated.
