Information on Towns of Verciano and Sant' Anna in Lucca Province

Post by hkendall65 »

Can anyone point me to good information about these two towns in Lucca Province. These are where my Great Grandparents were from and I'm trying to also find out the best way to locate the exact address where they lived.

Thanks in advance

There is further information on my Ancesterial Home in Verciano. The Civil state indicates that the family home was Allo Stefano No 115. Does anyone know this exact location currently. We are planning a trip and would love to visit the exact location

It seems that Verciano was divided in four districts, one of which was Santo Stefano; so, maybe be it was just called "Stefano"

Can you post a link to the record mentioning it?

Also, is there a reference somewhere for the cemetery in Verciano. I would like to pay my respects when I go there too.

They say they could not find the current name of the street, though they searched in other documents.
I'll take a look in the records of Capannori, too.
The cemetery is here:

For instance, this birth record says that one Luigi Ciucci lived in "Santo Stefano a Verciano".

My guess is that "allo Stefano" means "the district of Santo Stefano".
BTW, have you noticed that one of the four districts is named "Cantieri"?

I did notice that one of the districts was Cantieri. Also, one of the major streets is Cantieri. I assume that it was a prominent family name in the area. As far as the location, I was just wondering if there is an old map of Verciano in the late 1800's, early 1900's that shows the districts and maybe the way the neighborhoods were at that time.

Also, do you know if there is a register for the Cemetery to confirm that my Ancestors are there/where in that Cemetery in Verciano?

Giuseppe:

I just wanted to check and see if you were able to look at the records in Capannori or if there is a listing of the families buried in Verciano Cemetery to see if my ancestors are buried there or not?

Grazie,

Howard,
what should I search in the records for Capannori?
It seems clear that the reference of "Stefano" is one of the districts in Verciano. Would you like to know something more?
As to the cemetery, I think only the Town Offices of Capannori can give an answer, there are not lists nor DB's online.
