please help translate my GG grandfather's birth

Post by mtoth1982 »

Ciao a tutti,

Can anyone please help translate my GG grandfather's (Nicola) birth record in the following page?

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... 0.jpg.html

Can anyone explain why it lists Saverio's (Nicola's father) age as 26 when it looks like it lists him as 29 in his marriage record a year before? i know the marriage record is correct. Were these age mistakes common?

Grazie Mille!

Matt

Birth Act #56 - dated 17 June 1833 in Spinoso
Appearing before the official was Saverio Infantino, son of Nicola, age 26, mason residing in Strada S. Michele, to present a male child who he declared was born to Anna Cifone(?), his wife, age 23, and to himself. The child was born on the 16th of the month at 10 PM at their home. The child was given the name Nicola.
Witnesses to the presentation and declaration: Domenico Nasca, 33, blacksmith; and Giuseppe Magliocchini, 30, property owner.
Baptism on the 18th

Yes, the ages can be very "fluid" in the birth and death records. I would rely more on the marriage document for accuracy since the spouses would have presented their birth acts as part of the process of marriage.
