Trying to get Citizenship, Can wife and child acquire through me?

Post by argentuban »

I am trying to get my citizenship to Italy. Finding the last bit of paperwork and we should be good to go to apply.

But can my wife and daughter acquire citizenship through me later? If so, what is the process, and how hard is it? My wife is semifluent in Italian and my daughter is 6 months old.

When you apply, you add your minor child to your application, and she obtains citizenship when you do. You register at the consulate the birth of any children born after your recognition, and they become citizens as well. Your wife can apply for citizenship through marriage after you are recognized. The process is different, and the procedure is outlined on the consulates' website.
