Wedding Party Traditions

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Wedding Party Traditions

Here is a photo of my Italian grandparents' 1924 wedding party:

Where are the men? There's 3 males - the groom, best man (his cousin), and ring boy, and 11 females. 3 weeks later, the best man and maid of honor married, and the females way outnumbered the 3 males there also. Was this typical of Italian weddings then? They were recent immigrants from Italy in 1924 (came here in 1921). Not that way in the US any more. Can't speak for Italy today.
