Death Certificate Translation

Post by mkaykrista »

Hello, I am hoping to get some help translating this death certificate of my ancestor. I'm most interested in being able to pick out family names that can help grow my family tree. I noticed that towards the bottom of the document, there is a list of family names that could be children or siblings. I would love to have this confirmed.

Thank you!

Here is what I read:

Extract of Death of Arsenio Gargano, father of the groom

Death No 60:
Santarsenio (Sant'Arsenio): 14 November 1831

Appearing were Don Antonio Cafaro, 28 yo, possidente (landowner), and Don Giuseppe Pandolfo, 42 yo, possidente, both living Santarsenio. They declared that on 14 November 1831, at 2 pm, Arsenio Gargano, 56 yo bracciale (laborer), born in Santarsenio, died in his own home. He was the son of deceased Giuseppe Gargano and of deceased Agata Fella; and the husband of Margarita Pessolano, and father of Caterina, Giuseppe, Luigi, Nicola, Antonio, Domenico Angelo, Maria and Francesco.

Here is the original 1831 Death Record:

There is possibly error with the names of Arsenio's children , in the Death Extract?

Hi Angela,

Thank you! What makes you say there may be an error with his children? I'm still learning how to decipher these Italian documents so I may just not be seeing what you're seeing.
