Barga Death Record Handwriting Help

Post by MichaelSerchio »

Hi,
I'm not too familiar with the format of these death records; I'm more familiar with the birth records.
I'm hoping someone can help me interpret the attached two records please?

I believe these records shows the death of Stefano Renucci in September 1882.
Is the date of death 17th or 24th or something else?

There is a date of 21 Aug 1874 on the fourth line - can anyone please advise what this relates to?

How do Giuseppe Casci, Luigi Pellegrini and Pietro Giovanetti relate to Stefano Renucci?

I think it says he was aged 91 on death, but I can't read the word after 91?

I think his father's name is given as Vincenzo and his mother's name is given as Maria - is her surname given?

Thank you for your help,
Michael

The first record is a church record stating that he ceased to live on the date of the letter (17 Sept) at 5 AM, after receiving the sacraments of penance and eucharist. He was subsequently buried in the parish cemetery.

The second record is the civil registration of birth, which gives a date of death as 24 September, the declarants stating that he died today (oggi) at 4:15 AM.

That is the date on which the official was appointed to his office.

How do Giuseppe Casci, Luigi Pellegrini and Pietro Giovanetti relate to Stefano Renucci?
Casci and Pellegrini were the persons who came to the town hall to declare the death.
Pietro Giovannetti and Bernardo Donati were witnesses to the recording of the civil registration.
There is no indication that ANY of the above persons were in any way related to the deceased. Given the fact that Stefano's deceased wife was Maddalena Giovannetti - there MAY be a relationship there. That would take more investigation.

No, it is not. She is listed as Maria N. N. - it would appear that none of the witnesses or declarants knew her surname. Not surprising in that Stefano was age 91! :-)

Thank you for your help,
Michael
Hope this helps!
