Marriage record translation help

Post by poliquie »

The following is the record of my great grandfather' brother Crescenzo Mazza and his marriage to Maria Michele De Simone.

What I can make out of it...
They married on September 8th? 1904 in Torre Del Greco
Both were born and from Torre del Greco
Crescenzo is son of living Leonardo Mazza and Raffaela Ferro or Farro?

M Michele (Michelina) is daughter of living Francesco De Simone and Giueppa? cant make out the last name...

I cant make out too much more, so I cant tell if their ages are listed, but on the bottom it mentions my great grand-father Florindo, I assume he was a witness

It also has the signatures at the bottom and it says Crescenzo Mazza son of Leonardo
Michelina De Simone
Crescenzo Mazza deceased son of Mattia? (was this a witness too?)
Florindo Mazza

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

September 10th (dieci) 1904

Crescenzo was 30 and single (celibe)

Maria Michelina (also seen as Maria Michela) was 20-something/ maybe ventidue? 22 and single (celibe)

Yes witnesses....
Crescenzo Mazza (can't read age)
Florindo was 24

Best bet =find the publication a month or two prior and cross check (& hope for clearer handwriting HA!)
or backtrack with ages to find birth acts...Crescenzo about 1874/Maria Michela from 1875-1884

To add:

Crescenzo was a shopkeeper. He was the son of Leonardo [Mazza] and Raffaella (both Farro and Ferro are found in Torre del Greco)

Yes, Maria Michela, single (nubile), was 22. She was the daughter of Francesco [di Simone] and of Maria Giuseppa Riccardi.

The witness: Crescenzo Mazza was age 36, and Florindo Mazza was age 24.

The publication of banns of marriage were posted on 7 and 14 August.

Thank you so much... Was I correct regarding the witness Crescenzo being the son of the deceased Mattia Mazza?

Also, where would I find the marriage banns? Are they also found in the Martimoni records?

I do not see any mention of the fathers of the witnesses in the body of the record...BUT Crescenzo signed the record as son of deceased Mattia.

The marriage banns are the "Pubblicazioni"... but I see that year 1904 is not among the records listed.
